Connection Dropped errors

We have been having some niggly issues with Exchange 2010 ever since we switched from 2007/Blackberry's to 2010/iPhones.

Tonight I discovered that we have thousands of these errors (each day) in the httperr logs (see below).  Seems to be mostly for a handful of users, but I'd need to look through more data to determine that.

Have Googled this, and it might be an issue of IIS RPC concurrent connections, which I will monitor, but I would have doubted that with less than 150 users.

Could someone please point me in the right direction on trouble shooting this?

I would be pointing the finger at the firewall or something else between Exchange and the Internet. ActiveSync uses extended HTTPS sessions and some firewalls can get upset with that. Are you seeing anything in the event log of the server about timeouts or heartbeat?

Nothing about timeouts or heartbeats, but lots on connection_dropped.  Hundreds of those.
Those shouldn't be happening, so something is causing that. As I wrote above, I would be looking at the firewall, because the way ActiveSync works can be "unusual" for some firewalls. If you are using anything with a sizable user base then ActiveSync issues should be documented and the required changes known.
