Should Active Directory be beneficial on Public facing Web Farm?

Is there any major disadvantage of configuring a domain to administer web servers in the DMZ, counting application pools will not use domain users?

I'm just thinking to leverage group policy to harden the system, event log subscription to an Event log collector or to use DFS for content replication a workgroup could be a lot of work.

My environment will have 3 web servers and 1 file server in the DMZ, facing the public Internet.
Behind the firewall we'll have a couple of app servers accessed by web connectors, a couple of Database servers, staging and a development servers, all standard alone servers.

Thank you for any input.
