Good VPN Providers for internet anonymization?

These are companies that provide a VPN server you can connect to which lets you tunnel all your internet traffic through them, encrypting and anonymizing your connection. They generally offer it via PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN. Then they provide setup instructions for various OS, and usually some kind of DD-WRT based router instructions so you can set it up on your whole network if desired.

The ones I've found include StrongVPN, and HideMyAss...

But I have no idea who are the "big players" for this particular type of service... can anybody name some of the top VPN providers?

Ckluka - that's basically exactly what I'm looking for. The purpose is getting around content restrictions so a proper VPN  is what I'm looking for.

How's the bandwidth with StrongVPN like? Also who are their biggest competitors?

You can expect 200kbps. I'm not sure that they have any real competitors in the "getting around content filters" market.

They are pretty much the top of the hill for that.

I have to say, StrongVPN is pretty excellent. I've just signed up for their service and I'm thoroughly impressed. I actually get about 7-8Mbps of real-world speed too, so things have improved!
