deleting backup jobs in sql server 2008

Hi,
After setting up a maintenance plan using sql server management studio 2008, i realized that all the daily full backups were filling up the target backup directory so wanted to know how to edit the backup so that it only keeps 5days of backups in the folder.  thanks.

To your existing Plan

Add a Cleanup History Task
and a Maintenence Cleanup Task

In the maintenence cleanup task

Specify the folders where the .BAK files are located
If you have transaction logs for that database add a second maintenence cleanup task and slect the .TRN files
The Maintenence Cleanup Task can only handle one file type at a time.

Hope this helps

ASKER

Thanks i will try it.  Just wondering however if you would know of a way to modify the existing maintenance backup job so that it would only  keep a specified amount of backup dates just as you would do within a regular backup software job.  If this is not available as an option in sql studio manager 2008 then that is fine.  thanks
