BIS Internet Email fails to send on BlackBerry phone

I recently have added an additional email account on a BlackBerry phone (9900) for a user.  The account has been added correctly and it receives ok.  

The issue being that the user can send new messages of a fairly small size, however, emails with attachments or of a larger file size are not being sent and error out with a red X.

I have checked all settings and everything looks good from an account settings view.  Still can't see why it won't send emails over a certain size ( in some instances a few hundred KB).

Any help appreciated on this.

is this a pure BIS handset (not linked to any BES server)?

is there a size limit on their BIS email account, which restricts attachment size.  if you can send small messages ok, then its not really a connection issue, but a email size issue/restriction.

Hi, it's a BES server activated phone.  Should I try contacting the carrier to check size issue restrictions?

Go to settings-mobile networks then on here press the blackberry button and go down onto diagnostic test and then click on the blackberry button again and click run and you should see whether the server is being contacted or not if so emails should start to come through
Yes, this is a possible fix, but didn't fix my issue.
