MSSQL Equivalent of MySQL DATETIME and TIMESTAMP

Colleagues: I am building some MSSQL tables and I'm looking for functionality in MSSQL that is similar to these things from MySQL:

Column type = TIMESTAMP that records the DATE/TIME of the last change to the row.
Column type = DATETIME that permits inclusion of the ISO-8601 DATE/TIME string.

I know I can put in a varchar(20) and simulate the DATETIME, but I would like to know about best practices.  Examples and/or online man page references will be great, thanks.
