Uninstall Forefront TMG Client globally

We are decommissioning our MS Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) server in favor of a Cisco Firewall and need to uninstall the TMG client from everyone's computer.

The client was installed as part of our golden image and not pushed through a GPO.

Can anyone recommend "best practices" or know a way to remotely uninstall the TMG client from 130 or so computers in a Server 2003 domain environment?

Thanks in advance,

A.

Also if you want to run WMIC against a remote machine and have admin rights you can do the following.

WMIC /node:"computername" product where name="{forefront}" call uninstall
You could also run the WMIC command as a computer startup script since this will run as the system context it will have rights to uninstall.

Hi xxdcmast,

This is very interesting - I never heard of WMIC and think it will do exactly what I need.

Do you know off hand which version of Windows this tool supports? We have a mixed environment of XP, Vista and 7.

Great article by the way. Thanks for sharing!

I know ive used it on windows XP in the past I think sp2 and sp3. It should work assuming the uninstall doesnt have a password or prompt for any additional info.
