Supress Blinking Cursor

Here's my situation

I have an asp.net form (vb) that has a text box field (with autopost set to true)

This field will be populated via a swipe of a card through a card reader
(in order for this to happen, focus must be set to the text box field)

The value from the card swipe is used as input to a stored proc

The user does not want the card swipe value to be displayed on the form.

To get around this I have changed the various color properties of the text box field to be the same as the form background so that it is hidden from user view.

The issue is that the blinking cursor shows in the 'hidden' text box since it has focus

Is there a way to hide the blinking cursor until the changed event occurs and then I can unhide it?

I tried the following in the page load but the cursor still shows

  Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

        Windows.Forms.Cursor.Hide()
        txtCardID.Focus()

    End Sub

Any ideas?
