How to use a ListView control as input device in VB.NET with embedded checkboxes and dropdown menu's?

I'm thinking of using a ListView control as a multiline input control in a Windows Forms application. Each line (and defined column value) of the ListView will act as a input record. The input of the ListView may thus be no, one or multiple records.

The input is not restricted (e.g. to a list of values stored in a database). Otherwise I would have chosen another approach.

So first of all is this a good way to do it? Or is there a better approach for this kind of input?

Second, although some of the input should be unrestricted, some field of each record (column of the ListView) should be restricted. One input is boolean, so it would be great to incorporate a checkbox in each record. Is this possible, and how should I implement it? Another field should be a restricted set of values, so if a combobox could be incorporated in each record it would be great too.

Please let me know, if you need further elaboration.

I have no experience with that control, is a native part of .NET? Can you post some examples implementing the things I describe?

Seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.
I might be back with more specific questions soon.
