OS X 10.4 - Virtualize or resolve issue?

I have a user who has a lot of Macromedia Freehand MX graphics that don't port over to Illustrator very easily. He has hundreds in fact. Has a brand new iMac on 10.7, very nice one I might add, and a Mac Pro that is running 10.4. Since Freehand won't support 10.6 or newer I can't really upgrade him.

I'd prefer to find a utility that will convert all of his Freehand files to Illustrator correctly. The integrated one doesn't work well with his gradients. If there are 3rd party conversion tools I'm ok with that.

If that can't work, I need to P2V his machine into VMware Fusion which is already running on his iMac. I keep trying, but I found VMware stopped allowing older OS X versions in Fusion 4.1.1. I'm affraid this may not be an option but I watned to throw it out there.

Thanks

I've seen his site... See the comment below taken from that page:

UPDATE 2011-11-22: According to VMWare, this new feature is a bug. The TechNote linked above is no longer available and the whole thing pretty much sounds like VMWare changed their mind and/or was pressured by Apple.

The user has tried opening Freehand documents in AI, doing save as, etc. But the problem is with the gradients he has used. I'm not too familiar with graphics and how gradients differ from one package to another. All I know is that when opened with AI the graphics are no longer correct. It is very daunting to think about converting all of those documents.

I understand what you're saying about the time it takes to virtualize an OS that is very old. I'm already pushing the limit I'm prepared to take the virtualization.

I found this tool for converting yesterday, haven't had a chance to try it yet. It says its for CS 4 which is older than what we have but it's worth a shot.
