Mapped Drive on qnap NAS dont allow long file names anymore (offline files enabled)

Mapped Network Drive to qnap TS-439 Turbo  Station Nas CIFS share. Offline  Folder on Client  (in this case OS: Windows Server  2008R2 and  Windows Server 2012) enabled. This  works for me  for years. Problem now: If I am ONLINE, I get an error if I want  create or  copy files with Long Folder names. The  error  message is:

"The drive that this file or folder is stored on does   not allow long file names, or names containing   blanks or any of the following characters: \ / : , ; *   ? " < > | ". This Problem is on every Folder in the   mapped drive, not only for Folders wich are  available offline.

It works when I am OFFLINE (can create files with  normal Long names)

I have run chekdisk on the Offline Cache Partiton,  disabled offline files, deleted and formated  the  Cache, reenabled it and the Problem is still  there  :-(.

I dont kow exactly when this error first occured, probably it is since Firmware Update  3.7.3

Thank you for your help

Use the QNAP configuration utility and check the settings there. You prtobably have to tell it to allow long file-names somewhere there.

Hi rindi,
there are no Settings for Long Folder names. Also, it works without offine files (from other Computers, there is no Problem) on the qnap with Long names. And it HAS worked for years.

thank you for your help
Did you ever get this fixed? I have the same problem with my QNAP TS -219P II; with offline files enabled, long filenames don't work.

Sorry, did not get fixed it yet.
Strange: The Problem exists only with Windows Explorer. With other programs (like Word or Total Comander) I habe no Problems.

So have RMA'd the QNAP box and buying a Terastation as I had before (worked perfectly until the internals died)
