SSD vs SAS 10K

Im setting up a new VMWare host on DL580G7 - 384 GB / 32 Cores with esxi5.1a. This host will be part of a cluster of 3 similar nodes with vcenter5.1. I have 2 SSD SATA drives 120 GB and 2 SAS 146GB 10 RPM drives. I need to make a decision if i should use SSD SATA or SAS drives (10k) in RAID1?. Would anyone share his experience with these drives on an esxi host in particular?

Thanks All

We already have SAS 10k and SSD SATA drives (4 each) on site. We do intend to continue using Lab Manager (currently in our vSphere4.1 environment) and eventually move on to vCloud. We might also go for VDI at some stage. I will not be storing any VMs on local host and they will all be in a DELL Compellent SAN.

We currently have VM Ver 7 but once we have ESXi5.1 installed we will go straight to ver 9. (in a couple of months time coz of lab manager being EOL and it will take us sometime to move on to vCloud. We fear that if we upgrade vm to ver 9 then we will not be able to use that vm in lab manager - if required)

I understand general consensus will be to use ssd in view of using VDI or even lab manager? In particular when they have been bought already

Should i worry about life expectancy as it appears SAS might outlive an SSD Drive?

SSD Drive details are:
MK0120EAVDT - HP - 120GB SATA-II SFF 2.5INCH MIDLINE SOLID STATE DRIVE

Many thanks,
How long are you going to keep ALL the hardware before you upgrade?

if you are going to refresh all hardware in 3-5 years time, are SSD an issue?

Yes, SAS will outlive SSDs, but our Generation 1s are still in use and working well, no predicted failure yet.

I would imagine hardware will be replaced in 3-5 years. I think i should stick to SSDs then
if you have a hardware refresh policy, I would not be concerned about wear level of SSDs, because you would have replaced the hardware.
