# Need to make this formula convert commas to periods

Good Day Experts,

First thing, I'm an excel noob, second thing i need to adjust this formula to convert commas into periods and take out any spaces in Excel 2010. Is it possible?

=MID(A2&", "&A2,FIND(" ",A2)+1,LEN(A2))

Ultimately what i'm trying to do is take a list of names and compare them to another list of names. But list1 in column A is First, Last and list2 in column B is first.last with no space. thing is that List1 comes as Last, First and the forumula above changes it to first, last but i need it to be first.last

Is this possible,

Many Thanks,

Ellsworth

Obviously this isn't a formula solution, but it just seems easiest to me to use the data feature to parse out the names. Simply select the column to be parsed and choose Data > Text to columns. You will be guided through a wizard that can separate the one column into two, using a delimiter such as a period or comma.

Not sure if this makes it easier for you, but it's just another way of working with the data.
