HP E-MSM460 Access point not routing to internal VPN

I have an "open" HP E-MSM460 Access point, doling out WLAN 192.168 addresses. When I try to connect a VPN client (e.g. Sonic Mobile, Cisco AnyConnect) it rejects the connection saying server not answering. Same connection works from home (outside of here) even via wireless router at home. Any idea how to route WLAN traffic through to the VPN portal on our sonicwall, which is set to a specific port for SSL VPN access (hence I can route just that port traffic)?

When you are connected to the HP AP, is that behind the SonicWall (inside/private), or in front of the firewall (outside/publicly connected)?

Technically, behind. I suspect the problem is that the AP routes to an ISP router "inside" before going to the PI, and that causes the problem trying to attach to an "outside" VPN portal from an "inside to out" path? IE I have the AP sending traffic to a 192.168.x.x inside gateway. From there the traffic is routed back out to the PI in another building. I think what I need to do is bring the AP traffic to the WLAN port on the Sonic, then route to either SSL or to the inside for other PI traffic, right?
