I am sorry but it seems you have not even created an MX record for your domain how are you expecting to receive emails ?

what is an MX record ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MX_record

so you need to

1) go to your DNS hosting claimssupportinc.net and create
A record pointing exmail.claimssupportinc.net to a public IP you own
MX record pointing to exmail.exmail.claimssupportinc.net

2) go to your firewall where this public IP is configured and port forward port 25 to the internal IP of your exchange server
Duh!!!

How could i be so stupid!

i have one question.  Do in your instructions,
1)go to your DNS hosting claimssupportinc.net and create
A record pointing exmail.claimssupportinc.net to a public IP you own
MX record pointing to exmail.exmail.claimssupportinc.net

Do i create an A record and an MX record?  The public domain that we own is 123csi.com our Email policy is setup for 123csi.com  Do i still point the dns records to exmail.claimssupportinc.net and the MX record to exmail.exmail.claimssupportinc.net?
yes you need to create an MX and an A record

The A record points a name to an IP address and the MX record points to the name of the A record.

I thought that your external domain is claimsupportinc.net sorry

123csi.com has an MX record but it is pointing to mx.123csi.com which points to the below IPs

mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.51
mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.50
mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.52

these might be the default DNS config of your hoster.

D0 you own the claimsupportinc.net domain ? if you do then you need to create the A record in the claimsupportinc.net DNS zone and then the MX record of 123csi.com to poin to exmail.claimsupportinc.net
Ok

I have already done the following:

I went into my Registered Public external Domain DNS settings for 123csi.com and pointed the mx record to my gateway public IP.
i have a port forwarder setup on my router for my internal domain that sends smtp port 25 to my exchange server IP

I am confused as to how i am supposed set dns up on my internal Claimssupportinc.net domain.

this must be why i can send but cannot recieve email
So you did is that you went to pubic dns 123csi.com and you changed the A record of mx to point to your external IP ?

DNS records can take up to 24 hours to propagate, here it is still showing the old record
i did this more than 6 days ago
then you did it wrong!

can you share a screen shot of your public DNS zone? because here it is returning

mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.51
mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.50
mx.123csi.com   internet address = 66.96.142.52

unless one of these is your IP address

there is something else wrong, you are managing your domain in domain central but your DNS is hosted at dotster.com not at domaincentral.com
User generated imagehere is what i have for host A records:

as you can see there are 3 MX records and one 123csi.com, wich one do i edit?
ok these are the ones i can see,

edit one of them and delete the rest
it is dotster.  i just logged into my account and domain central is just the control panel for my domain

i will do exactly what you say to my hostA records.  I hope that deleteing those other mx records wont damage anything.
it won't damage don't worry
ok,

the job is done.  i changed my mx record to @ and my hostA record to my gateway IP

now i have to wait 24hrs for this to take affect!

Thank you so much sir!!!

i will keep you posted and let you know if everything works out!
quick question.

is there anything in DNS that i have to configure in my internal domain?
nothing to do in the internal DNS for now
Thanks!

Akhater i really appreciate your help!

i started another thread earlier that everyone doped the ball on.
you are welcome, that's why we are here :D
things looks better now, try from a gmail account if you have one
YOur the man!!!

i cant thank you enough!!

this headache is finally resolved.
glad i was of help
i am a little nervous as to you having so much information of my network now though :(
how where you able to test everything on your end?  just curious.
well you can as a moderator to delete the posts with a screen shot here, as for the rest there is not really anything hidden or sensitive, you can just issue a simple
nslookup -querytype=mx 123csi.com

command (replace the 123csi.com by any domain) to know the mx of any given domain these are basiclly public information and i can't harm you knowing them
cool

no worries , just curious.
thanks
again
you have a great day
