Windows update

my OS is win 7 Prof 64 bit and the pc is a Dell vostro 220.  My anti virus is Mcafee.  i have about 12 updates, out of which 7 are critical and the others are optional.  I have tried to install all these, but all of them failed.  I even tried installing one by one by selecting one of the updates first.  These too failed.  And when I shut down the pc, the updates try to install  about 6 of them, must be the critical ones.  But it looks it always fails and this goes on everytime I try to shut down the pc.
Attached is a file showing all the updates that failed to install.  When examining my update history, I seem to have tons of updates that failed to install.
Hope the gurus can advise to do next.

Are the date and time correct for your computer ? If this is OK then run ms fixit

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

  Good luck
Have you checked your event viewer?
What errors appear?

Can you create a system restore point?
Updates need to create this maybe your problem is there
Try creating one
Also I am sure you restarted the computer sometimes a prior install failed which can stop other installs work.
