Software Update using SCCM 2008 is stuck at "Downloading Update" state

I have problems with deploying security updates using sccm 2008. My all Win 2008 R2 servers are stuck at 'Downloading Update' State. Please suggest me rectify this issue.

Also most of the Win 2008 R2 servers updates are not at all pushing and poping up.
So either its not pushing updates or if it successfully pushed into win 2008 R2 servers its in hung state at "Downloading Update".

Are talking about the download and deployment within SCCM 2007 or the advertisement on the other machines?

If you are talking about the advertisement.  I would go back to the SCCM server and re-download the updates to your update package.
Download and deployment within SCCM 2007 works fine. I have problem only with Win 2008 R2 servers, its getting patches from SCCM, but when try to install it stucks at " Downloading Update". All other servers (win 2003 servers) are getting updates from SCCM, installs and reboots properly,  hence i think the update package is working fine.
It could be your published deployment location and I have seem most time a re-download of the patches to the deployment location resolve the issue.

I tried this solution in Win 2008 servers wherever i get the error message group policy overwritting. It worked out for me.
Though this is a workaround its good fix for these kind of issues.
