Unable to transfer app purchases from iPhone 3G to PC

Hello,

I'm trying to restore my phone, so I'd like to transfer my purchases to my PC but whenever I select "Transfer purchases" option on iTunes, the transfer seems to start but stops and I don't see any apps under "Apps" in iTunes Library.

I'd really appreciate any insights on this.

Thanks

Thanks a lot, akahan.

Yes, I hadn't authorized the computer. Once I did that, I was able to transfer.

Just to confirm, once the restore is complete, I should be able to transfer only the apps that I intend to keep to iPhone, right?

Thanks again, akahan..

I just deleted the unwanted apps on my iPhone before transferring them to iTunes library.

If possible, could you please have a look at this question (in case you haven't already):

I don't have an opinion on your other question, other than to say that continuing to use an obsoleted version of IOS on your phone will cause problems if you intend to keep iTunes up to date and use iTunes to sync with the phone, as the current version of iTunes expects you to be using the current version of the IOS, and is designed to work with it, and not necessarily with superseded versions.   If you don't intend to use iTunes anyway, that's not an issue (though you will have problems if you try to use the current versions of various apps that are intended to be used with the current version of IOS. )  Overall, I think keeping the phone on an older version of IOS is more trouble than it's worth.
