Windows 7 mouse/cursor/pointer position when the laptop lid is closed.
Hello,
I have windows 7 on a laptop (HP). On occasions I hookup my laptop to my flat screen TV to view some videos/movies. Once I have it hooked up I tried to close the laptop lid for viewing the video. The problem is that, when I close the lid, the mouse/cursor/pointer moves to the center of the screen, hense the TV screen. How can I change this cursor behavior when I close the lid?
I googled for a solution. I looked at the mouse and "power saving" settings, and did not find any settings that would change this behavior.

Most of the players hide the mouse pointer while playing, I wonder what's bothering

kpax77 and thinkingpad_user, thank you for your comments. This is my problem. I do not want to have the laptop displaying the video while I am watching it on the TV.
And when I close the lid the cursor automatically moves to the center of the screen. Who would want to see a movie with the cursor showing in the middle of the screen?
There's got to be setting to change this behavior.
If the cursor hide itself after some seconds, then I could live with it, but it does not hide.

On my own laptop, I can display the laptop monitor, or the external monitor, or both (so that is, I can display only the external monitor if I so desire).
So then you can display the video while the laptop screen is black. Put your laptop to one side, black screen and move the mouse to the corner. I can move my mouse off screen and it is no longer visible.
That should do what you want. .... Thinkpads_User

Thanks, I believe there isn't a good solution. What I ended up doing is attaching a USB mouse/external mouse, and moving it off the screen once the lid is closed.
@chima - Thanks. I was happy to help.

click on Intel Graphics icon ( if you have it in your taskbar else open it), select Graphics Options, select output to digital television, now you see the image on the TV screen with the arrow in the center, move the arrow and close the lid. The arrow does not re-appear.
Unfortunately this needs to be repeated next time you connect. Noticed than this happens to DELL laptops.
