Windows could not start TCP/IP Print Server service
Hi,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running on a HyperV host and have installed the LPR Port Monitor but the TCP/IP Print Server service does not run automatically. when trying to start it it says: Windows could not start TCP/IP Print Server service on Local Computer. Error 1083: the executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service.
Things a have tried so far:
- check the correct path in Registry for ImagePath to be %SystemRoot%\system32\tcps vcs.exe
- tried to run the server as domain admin (curently is setup as Local System account)
- the well known "reboot the server"
- uninstall and reinstall the LPR Port Monitor feature
Plese advise.
Thanks.

i run the sfc /scannow and windows did not find any "integrity violations" but the service still cannot be started.
Check for the last version of LPR and install it, check that it is compatible with HeperV host.
This error simply tells you that the service is trying to trigger an executable that is not there or that has limited functionality ,this could be due to a file some how deleted or maybe version missmatches!
