Scanning multiple images into the one pic or word doc (flat bed scan with no feeder - 1 page at a time)

Customer has a canon low end usb scanner and it software

I cant remember the exact Canon scanner model.

Is it possible to scan 2 or 3 pages in a row into one file?

Thanks.

Have a look at VueScan 9
http://www.hamrick.com/

VueScan 9 can output scanned documents, photos, and film in PDF, JPEG and TIFF formats. It can also recognize text using OCR and create multi-page pdfs using both flatbed scanners and scanners with automatic document feeders

I very much doubt that you can put multiple scans into a single image -
You can however scan the images one by one and then place them I in to a word document for example - which you could then output as a PDF.

Is this what you have in mind ?

Yes, but it is dependent on the software. What software is your customer using to do the scanning? If the software he's using doesn't have that capability, is he willing to install different software? It also depends on the output file format. For example, it cannot be done into a JPEG file, but can be done into a PDF or TIFF file. Regards, Joe

This might help:  ( and yes you can scan multiple pages in one TIFF)

Single-Page vs. Multi-Page TIFF Files

A Single-Page TIFF file is a file which contains a single image/page that is stored in a TIFF image format.
Multiple-Page TIFF File:

A Multiple-Page TIFF file is a file which contains one or more images/pages that are stored in a TIFF image format.
Sorry I forgot to add the software options:  No free version, but have a look at http://alternativeto.net/software/vuescan/  This is a fantastic site for alternatives to other software
