Hard Drives - Tests to verify that it is error free and good to use
My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit and I salvaged an internal Western Digital HD 500 GB from a dead pc. This HD was the 2nd HD. I now wish to use this to backup my data on my new Lennovo pc. I have connected the HD by a Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter. The markings on this HD are :
Western Digital, 500 GB, and the other markings are : PATA / 17MB Cache, WD5000AAKB
On the J1 jumper settings, the markings are the jumper has been set on 1.
The other information are :

I hope the Experts could please suggest a List of tests that I should run on this HD to make sure that the HD is still good because it was sitting on the shelf for a long time.
Thank u.

That being said, realize that this is an old, slow hard drive which is using an obsolete connector type. It may not be suitable for anything other than low-intensity secondary operations like long term data storage or backups.
They're doing good on that page. When I tried to use the Search, it tried to access 'localhost'. Good going WD.
