Tutorial for LaTeX to add citations from Zotero and BibDesk

I am new to the learning curve of LaTeX in the Texstudio app. I have successfully created the .bib file from about 30 bibliography sources I am using that I added to Zotero from Google Scholar. I have figured out how to generate the \cite{} key and copy to my LaTeX document in the proper place. I am stuck on the Texstudio side not understanding how to compile the BibTex side of the document before I compile the document twice in XeLaTeX (which I use to format some Arabic RTL text). I can compile and view the rest of the document but still get [?, 84] for a citation from Reynolds:2004a, page 84. The .bib and .tex documents are in the same LaTeX folder.

BTDT on those tutorials that are high hits returned from using my question as a search query. The tutorials were good for the DIY part of the learning curve prior to the bugs I am now getting. Thanks for the post, but I need an answer from someone familiar with LaTeX to troubleshoot the issues presented.
