I am the "Lucky" receient of a Dell XPS 15 laptop. It came with Windows 8 unfortunately. I was trying to install SILVERLIGHT and the install program said I was running a 64 bit version of IE9. How can I enable, change, install or oltherwise get a 32 bit version of IE so that I can make the Silverlight install work?

First, if you're running Windows 8 you are most likely running IE 10 ... not 9.

IE10 runs in 64-bit mode when run from the "modern user interface"  (formerly called Metro);   but defaults to 32-bit when run from the desktop.    So Silverlight should work fine when IE is run from the desktop.

... by the way, I just installed Silverlight v5 on a Windows 8 system -- it works fine if you run IE from the desktop;  but doesn't work from the "modern interface" (as I suspected).

You can confirm/test that Silverlight is installed by going to this web site:
