Dear Sir

I want to use the 10 GB Ethernet technology in my environment.

I need to connect our server ( Hp proliant Dl380 g7) to a HP workstation z400 and to Mac Pro through a 10 Gb  Ethernet Switch .

I need a full solution for this if available.

Regards

Hi,

You will need the following

1. DL380G7: Any of the following network card with the correct GBIC for either UTP / Fibre
NOTE: A minimum of two Gigabytes (2 GB) of server memory is required per each adapter.
NOTE: Direct Attach Cable (DAC) for copper environments or fiber transceivers and cables for fiber-optic environments must be purchased separately.
HP NC522SFP Dual Port 10GbE Gigabit Server Adapter 468332-B21
HP NC550SFP Dual Port 10GbE Server Adapter 581201-B21
HP NC523SFP 10Gb 2-port Server Adapter 593717-B21
HP NC552SFP 10Gb 2-port Ethernet Server Adapter 614203-B21
HP 10 GbE PCI-e G2 Dual Port Network Interface Card 516937-B21

2. z400:
There are no official 10GE option for the z400. You may try the above adapters but make sure there are corresponding slot available in the z400

3. MacPro
There are a number of card choices and it is a discussion on Apple support forum
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1255730?start=0&tstart=0

4. Switch / Cable
Last but not least you need a switch and some cables to hook up everything, the choice would depend one where you run on copper (UTP) or fibre. A discussion could be found here

as I heard that is no 10 GE in pc system , only in mac pro or in the proliant or blade system server , right ??

Hi,

At the moment, it only has copper option for direct attach configuration

Direct Attach Cable
HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable .5m 10GbE Copper Cable
487649-B21
HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 1m 10GbE Copper Cable
487652-B21
HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 3m 10GbE Copper Cable
487655-B21
HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 5m 10GbE Copper Cable
537963-B21
HP BladeSystem c-Class Small Form-Factor Pluggable 7m 10GbE Copper Cable
487658-B21
HP C-Series SFP+ to SFP+ Copper 3.0m Direct Attach Cable
AP784A
HP C-Series SFP+ to SFP+ Copper 5.0m Direct Attach Cable
AP785A
HP C-series SFP+ to SFP+ Active Copper 7.0m Direct Attach Cable      QK701A
HP X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 0.65m Direct Attach Copper Cable      JD095C
HP X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 1.2m Direct Attach Copper Cable
JD096C
HP X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 3m Direct Attach Copper Cable      JD097C
HP X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 5m Direct Attach Copper Cable      JG081C
HP X240 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 7m Direct Attach Copper Cable
JC784C

For PC and desktop, the cost vs performance gain could not be justified as the internal throughput could not fully utilise the bus speed. Thanks

Best regards,
CH
