i have a lotus notes view that has categories and sub categories and then documents, i want to calculate the number of documents in each subcategory that has a specific field value inside document.

I have a view that has categories-->subcategories-->documents

what I need to calculate is the number of documents in each subcategory that has a specific field value.

I can make a Total column but that is not what I am looking for.For example a subcategory has 20 documents underneath total gives me 20 .but in that document i want to check some field's value if this field is empty in 1 document then it should give me 19 or if 13 documents underneath that subcategory has a field A=""(field A empty) then i want to calculate 7 instead of 20 because 13 documents has empty field A.

How can i achieve it in a easy way?

I have solved it with making the below formula to the total column.this totals the columns that match with the below formula.

if the below formula gives 1 ,you can add up the count if below formula gives 0 it does not count as a total column

@If(fielda="X" | (fieldb="" & fieldc="" & fieldd="" & fielde="" & fieldf="");0;1)

I don't exactly understand where this is going to, but here are some ideas:
- exclude documents you don't want to see from the view, using the SELECT differently
- categorise your documents in a different way, in the sub-categories' formulas

Can you give a clearer example of what the result should be? Maybe a screen shot of your current attempt, with some markings of what you actually wanted or so?
