Outlook Imap Creation

We are using Outlook 2007 with a Mdaemon server but  without the outlook connector. By default Outlook creates and personal folder_when I create the imap folder it puts it below the personal folder creation. Is there a way I can removed this default folder list creation and just show the Imap folders only?

you cannot remove it when using IMAP, you can only in POP3, Exchange or Outlook Hotmail Connector.
Outlook needs it for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes, Journal etc

What you can do is set Outlook to start in the Inbox folder of the IMAP account instead of starting in Outlook Today. This doing :
Tools-> Options…-> tab Other-> button Advanced Options…-> option: Startup in this folder

If I do that can he still view his contacts?

Yes, you just change the startup position
