Is there a quicker way to number rows sequentially without dragging the mouse?

Excel Image
I want number rows 1 through 2000 in column A, so that

Cell A1 = 1
Cell A2 = 2
Cell A3 = 3
Cell A2000 = 2000

I normally do this by highlighting cells A1 through A3, then dragging the mouse until I get cell A2000.  This takes a long time.  A quicker method would be helpful.

Thank you!

I'm on an old Excel version but it may still help you: in menu Edit there is a submenu Fill, option Series...

If there is a 1 in A1 then you choose:
capture
0
