How can I present a presentation with my iPad and have it mirror through iMac to projector

I am wanting to present off my iPad so I can move through it and control the presentation.
We have an iMac connected to a projector.

Can I send the iPad signal to the iMac and have the iMac relay the signal through the projector? I have only been able to do this with an Apple TV and or using a dongle hard connect to monitor or projector.

Those apps may have been improved in the past months, but when investigated a few months ago, the image on the Mac would not be full screen, but actually kind of small when viewed on the projected screen. If you enable Universal access on the Mac and zoom in the screen, you can work around this, but it's too much of a pain for frequent use.

You can use airserver which make your imac as an apple tv, its totally free

Or (if you want to) you can coonect your ipad directly to the projector and control it with your iphone (if you have one), the app is called "keynote remote"
