play pacman on-line with an external joystick

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to play games like pacman online with an external joystick.  Is this possible with Windows 7?

Yes, you simply need a controller that is W7 supported then you remap the joystick movements.

When you ask for online it this to play against an opponent?

If you're playing through a browser you just use the joystick as an alternative input device.  It's easier to get that configured than some downloads!

o, that might be the problem.  This joystick is about 6 years  old so it probably isn't windows 7 compatible, is it?  if this is the case can you recommend an inexpensive joystick?

Probably not - a lot of controllers built with XP drivers are unsupported - do you know the make & model?

Go for USB

Some people refer to gamepads as joysticks but if you want the old school stick with thumb and trigger buttons I'd recommend anything from Logitech that supports Windows Games (around $25)

Hardcore gaming has pushed traditional joystick controller prices and you could pay over $100 for a stick for some flight simulators.

If it doesn't have the "Games for Windows" branding or doesn't explicitly say it is compatible with Windows 7 don't assume it is.
