Drop down menu not staying expanded

No matter what web browser I use, starting today if I click on a drop down menu it opens briefly and then closes.  What would cause this?  I ran a complete scan with my MS Security Essentials thinking it was a virus, and restarted my computer, but it is still happening.  Any ideas?

I think drop down menus are a function of Windows, not just browsers.

Run System File Checker. Run SFC /SCANNOW and allow to complete. Run it again if errors remain uncorrected. Then restart the computer and check again.

Since SFC did not work, then viruses and malware have corrupted your machine.

Try the Malwarebytes online scanner to scan more thoroughly and see if that works.

If not, then your next course of action will be to back up the machine, format, and re-install Windows.
