Gpo not applied on some of the computers that has windows firewall ON

hi
we haveing dc 2008 , and many server 2008.
for some of the server we seeing that some of the gpo's are not applied.
only when we turn off the firewall and then gpupdate /force , only then the gpo are applied/

is there any spacial setting for the windows firewall  so that the gpo will works ?

Firewall should not block GPOs, if it is, you need to add an exception.
Run gpresult /r command on one of the affected server to see if policies are filtered out (some of them or all).
Also you can check the dc to which they are getting policies from - set logonserver
Compare it with one of the affected vs. working computer.
