Hello,
Is there a limit to the number of fields that a subform can link to a main form?  I have having issues with linking 5 different fields on a subform where all 5 fields are in the main form and hidden in the subform (all 5 fields are in both tables).

Thank you!

is your problem showing records in the subform based on the 5 fields on the main form?

you have to understand that the subform records will be filtered using the combinations of the 5 fields from the main form using the "AND" operator.

in case like this, i used cascading combo boxes to filter the subform records.

I will admit to not knowing everything about relationships.
;-)

but...
I have seen situations where two tables were linked on 2 fields, but never more than this...

Can you take a moment to explain why a Parent/Child relationship would need *5* fields to link on?

But please reply to capricon1's post first.
...as I may not be fully understanding your question here...

We are in the mushroom industry and what we are trying to do is have Harvesting estimates.  The unique part of the estimate is:  Date of Estimate, Farm, Sub-Farm, Date Estimate For and the time of the estimate.  Within that 'header' information, we have many rooms.  For example,
   Date of Estimate: 1/4/13
   Farm: ROK
   Sub-Farm: Building 1
Date Estimate for: 1/4/13 or 1/5/13 or 1/6/13 (we estimate 3 days out)
Time of Estimate: 6:00am or 11:00am or 2:00pm (we estimate 3 times a day)

Now for the detail:
Room 104, Whites, 10000lbs (and more data)
  Room 105, Browns, 5000lbs

etc.

Hope that helps explain!

Thought we did answer the question...however, we just did our own trouble shooting and turns out it is working fine...not sure how to explain why it works today and not yesterday, but that's Microsoft for ya!  Thanks for your time, but we did need the 5 linking fields and it is working now.
