Hi all,

I am looking to include some basic OCR functionality in my latest project.  What i want to do is using a camcorder to take a picture of a sequence of numbers and convert this to an integer value in vb2008. Im only working with the numbers 0-9 and want a low cost solution.  Seen some interesting script and theory.

My current thinking is that its all about recognizing patterns across a grid, however not sure where to start.  If anyone can give be a few pointers be much appreciated.

Code in both first links is C# not C++. You can either convert it to VB online or put it into a separate class library project and call it from VB.

Thanks for your advice.

I got this to work in then end and was able, as abvised, to use the C++ code in vb.net.

The thing to use is emgu, took me a while to get it to work but when you do it works great. I have attached the youtube video i followed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kjdu8SjEtG0 in case anyone else wants to do the same.
