ohnnie--Let us know.
If you still need help, tell us the email program.  In Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations what do you show in the Current Default column down at the bottom in the Protocol section for MailTo ?

ohnnie--Let's not worry about that for now, while you try out the "fixes" I offered.
But you should know that Google Chrome is a browser.  That may make it likely that you are using GMail as the email program.
