Driver for Huawei EM680 w/Gobi on Windows 7

I recently purchased a new custom build Sony Vaio S series Laptop.

It came pre-installed with Windows 8 which I didn't like, so have successfully removed, wiped and installed a-new with Windows 7 Ultimate.

All drivers are installed with the exception of the one for Huawei EM680 w/Gobi.

I have searched high and low and canoot find a driver anywhere.

Google results seem to lead no-where and I have used WinZip Driver Updater and Driver Agent sites to identify a correct driver with no success.

My System Details are...

Model name:   SVS15112C5E
Service Tag:      C60BL7AA
Bios Version:    R0081C8
OS:                    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
ME version:      8.1.0.1248

Any helpful response would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Please go to this page:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=VPCZ21SHX&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab

And expand Wireless - you'll find the 64 bit driver there.

Regards,

RobMobility.

Sorry I haven't been to forthcoming. I have been very busy of late.

Starting with a blank slate, device manager looks like so...

Device Manager
nobus, I downloaded QCDWLW-00249077-0042.EXE from http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=VPCZ21SHX&upd_id=6858&os_group_id=6 and got the error...

QCDWLW-00249077-0042
I then proceeded to download Qualcomm® Gobi™ Firmware Driver (QCFOTH-00249071-0042.EXE) from http://esupport.sony.com/p/homefeed-swu.pl?mdl=VPCSA3AGX&template_id=1®ion_id=1 and got this error...

QCFOTH-00249071-0042
I then moved onto download Huawei™ Gobi™ 3000 HS-USB Modem Driver but realized this was the same file as the first download so skipped this.

I then tried SlimDrivers as suggested and got the following screen appear after scanning...

SlimDrivers
I then un-installed SlimDrivers as this didn't work.

Iphonehelper, I tried Driver Robot as you suggested, and whilst it did find some out-dated drivers, it reported the devices I have with no drivers as being ok!

Driver Robot
RobMobility, thanks for your post. The link you have pointed me to though is to download a file I have already try (QCDWLW-00249077-0042)!

I checked out your last post as well, and both the wireless bits are for drivers I have already tried QCDWLW-00249077-0042 and QCFOTH-00249071-0042.

I hope this post helps us get closer to finding a solution to my problem!

Thank you everyone for your help thus far.

do you still have access to the original?  maybe in a shop?
then you could lookup what exactly the drivers for these devices are
i suppose you tried windows update>optional updates also?

The original what? The laptop came pre-installed with Windows 8 and the recovery data was on a recovery partition.

When I wiped and installed Windows 7, I removed all partitions, including the recovery one, so I don't have access to the original setup.

Yes, Windows is up to date, and there are no optional updates for these missing drivers.

i meant if you can have access to a similar one to see its devices and drivers
then you can search for them better

Unfortunately I don't have access to another laptop.

I have read in various places that the 3G Modem I have has also been used on laptops with Windows 7 installed, so there must be some drivers or something somewhere!

I have ordered a set of recovery disks, so I am hoping to be able to extra the required drivers from those.

Will post again once I have more info.

Hi,

Have you tried extracting the drivers from the software you downloaded and then update the driver via Device Manager  pointing it to the location of the extracted drivers?

Regards,

RobMobility.

I have finally got things working, but not with Windows 7.

I had to get the restore discs from Sony and revert back to Windows 8.

Unfortunately it appears there is no drivers or support for the 3G module on Windows 7 and I didn't have the time or patience to continue trying!

I had to revert back to factory defaults in the end.
