Win2008 WSUS server (up to date)
Win7 sp1 clients

I have authorized IE9 to install via WSUS on my Win7 clients, the update is being found but hangs downloading at 0%. Then errors with code 80244023.

Downloading the windows update troubleshooter runs and gives the 2 results:
'Potential Windows Update database error detected 0x80070057'
'Windows update components must be repaired'

It fixes both these and the download and install then works fine.

Obviously this manual fix is not a solution for my 500+ machines so what to do with all my machines.....? a script to repair the components and clear the database or something?

screenshots attached

Thanks

- stopping windows update service
- deleting the datastore folder in %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\datastore
- starting service

this then allowed the updates to deploy.
startup script everywhere.
