I have 5 500GB SAS drives in a RAID 0 configuration as I/O and space are my primary needs.  This drive is used to stage database backups before going to tape.

I was wondering what settings I need to set in the logical drive setup for best performance.

Here are the current settings

Read Policy: No read ahead
Write Policy: Write back with BBU
IO Policy: Direct IO
Access Policy: Read Write
Disk Cache Policy: Disabled
Background Initialization: Enabled.

Are these the best settings for performance?

Thank you,

I would turn Disk Cache Policy on as well and even enable Write Back without battery if that's an option. Should there be a power failure you would have to repeat the backup as the disk cache wouldn't be committed but you would have to repeat it anyway if the server lost power. I'd never do either of these settings in a normal production environment but for disk staging and data mining where data loss doesn't matter they can improve performance.
