Transferred Domain Name in Error

Hi,

About a year ago I wanted to move my web hosting from my service provider (Switchmedia) to another provider (Rackspace). I initially thought that I would move the domain to Rackspace - but as they do not act as a registrar, I needed to keep it at Switchmedia, but change the nameservers that the domain name would point to.

It all seemed sorted out and I stated my exact intentions to keep the domain registered with Switchmedia in the last correspondence I had with them.

However, when it came to renewing my domain name, I received and invoice for one of my domains registered at Switchmedia but the other went into the process of transfer.

Now it seems like my domain name has expired and Switchmedia cannot renew it as it is in the process of transfer. I need the domain back asap as my e-mails as well as website depends on it.

What actions can I take to get the domain re-instated? I have contacted switchmedia and they said they need to investigate but I would like to know if there is anything that I can do to speed up the process.

Thanks,
Jacques

What's the Top Level Domain in question, as the process is different for .com to .co.uk, for example - if it's a .co.uk you can simply re-assign it to whichever registrar you want via Nominet, but I believe it's a bit more difficult for .com domains.

Thanks! It was a .com domain.

Luckily switchmedia have come back to me and it seems like they have been able to cancel the transfer process and have re-instated the domain with them.

Good to know about Nominet though - thanks.
