I wanted to ask the experts if emails that are in the dumpster for exchange (emails that have been deleted from outlook and removed from deleted items in outlook).  Can be recovered from a backup.  I have restored a backup and mounted it to an RSG however i keep deleted items for 30 days and i wanted to know if it is possible to restore this stuff from a backup.  For example if i keep only one full backup for each month to archive if i wanted to find an email that was deleted three months ago could i restore the full backup from three months ago and dig through the dumpster to find it?

Thanks experts!

In Exchagne 2007 you will get the dumpster content when restoring.
It is automatically put back into the folder that it was removed from (hard deletes go back into folder - normal deletes will go back into deleted items)

So if you had 30-day retention on deleted items, and restore FRED from backup on 30 JUNE, you get back the mailbox for FRED as at 30 June PLUS all items deleted back to 1st June.
