wifi and iphone/ipod

Hello, I need some help.

a few days ago I installed the dd-wrt firmware on my airlink 101 wireless router.
It works except I'm having a problem with my iPhone and iPod. Whenever I connect these devices to my wireless network and as long as I  stay  online (wireless) I'm good. But as soon as I stop using the device, the router drops these devices. I can't access the network at this point. I need to disconnect from wifi on the iPhone and iPod and reconnect again to get back online. I can't seem to figure out why. My other wireless device, my rim playbook is fine, it does not drop off.
Any idea why this is happening. Is there some sort of setting in the dd-wrt firmware or on the iPod or iPhone?
please & thank you for your help.

Also try the following: One the iPhone and iPod, delete the wireless profile altogether so there is no wireless profile. Shut the iPhone down (Hold down the top button to get the shutdown arrow). Start it back up and create a new wireless profile. See if that is more stable.  Do the same for the iPod.
