Telstra IP Telephony Toolbar software problems

Hi,

We have recently implemented Telstra IP Telephony in our organization and we had to install toolbar software to be able to manage IP Phone from Outlook 2010, Internet Explorer 9, Mozillar firefox. We were able to install it successfully on most of the computers but on few computers we could install it but not able to use it.

Reinstalled the software, removed registry entries but still the same problem. One few of the problematic computers when I login as admin I could use the software successfully but not as the user. I assume that the software has not been removed properly. I may be wrong but I need to fix ASAP.

OS - Windows 7 Pro

What are the steps involved to remove a software completely from a computer?

Any assistance is much appreciated?

Does it crash?  In our environment, I had to install VCRedist 2008 and 2010 (I think both 32 and 64 bit version) on our Windows 7 machines before the Toolbar behaved.  On occasion we had to go back to an earlier version as well.

Thanks for your response. It does crash. i tried installing VCRedist 2008 and 2010 still if fails on few computers.

You don't happen to have Nuance PDF Converter installed do you?  That crashed it for us.  We had to go back to version 14.10.108.13

Try disabling any other IE toolbars / addons as well, to see which the culprit might be.

Hi Rob,

Sorry for delayed response. No there is no Nuance PDF converter installed on any machine. Did you install the older version of telstra toolbar on problematic computers?

I am sure its in only that toolbar causing the problem because when I uninstall telstra toolbar there is no crash.

Yes, from my experience, it is a problem with the Telstra toolbar, but perhaps in combination with some other IE add-on.  Yes, the older version needed to be installed on problematic computers.

Also though, it might be worth disabling any other IE toolbars / addons as well, one at a time, to see which the culprit might be.

Hi Rob,

I have disabled all the toolbars / addons one by one, but no difference. I am thinking of reinstalling the OS on problematic computers

I would think reinstalling the OS would be a last resort, since it would be more time consuming, and may end up not working, but if you have no other option, then I guess it's all you can try.

When it crashes, does the error detail tell you which file (and which version) crashes?  Were your Windows 7 machines 32 or 64 bit?

We were having these problems with Windows XP, since we're only just starting our Windows 7 rollout.

Are you able to get hold of a few different versions of the toolbar to try?

Hi Rob,

We are left with installing telstra toolbar on 4 computers. Windows 7 (32 bit). I will be reinstalling OS for rest of the computers as I have not much time left.
