Dell Power Edge 2950 Drives Missing

Hello,

I have a Dell Power Edge 2950 using a PERC RAID controller.

I have 5 Drives in a RAID 5 configuration and 2 drives in the missing state. All of the drive lights on the front of the server are green, so I believe the drives are OK. The drives are also relatively new.

Is there any way to fix this?

I also have a free Power Edge 2950 that is not being used. Can I swap the drives over to that server without blowing up the data?

Thanks,

Mike

The server is running VMWare so I do not have OpenManage and it is out of warranty.

Boot to CTRL-R, PD MGMT screen ... do the drives show on that screen (should be 'foreign')?  If so, go to the VD MGMT screen, highlight the controller, hit F2, Foreign Configuration, Import.

Do you have a PERC 5 or 6?  If 5, what is the firmware at (CTRL MGMT screen).
