Need to exclude OSX process from Mcafee anitmalware 9.1

When I run diskutility on my mac running osx 10.8 is takes a long time. Seems mcafee anitmare ware scanner is scanning all files that the "repair permissions" process under diskutility touches.

So how can I exclude the diskutility process?

I found the process "/usr/sbin/diskmanagementd", but just don't know what to enter in the exclusion line of mcafee to exclude it.

thanks

Hi rdefino,

I personally don't have Mcafee so it is impossible to make screenshots for you but most AVs don't change their preferences too much, so I here is the manual for version 1: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:_-MZod0gMFoJ:https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/22000/PD22415/en_US/McAfee%2520Security%2520for%2520Mac%25201.0%2520User%2520Guide.pdf+&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShrjBgKaXfpWTLZKu_-VxP9BUbDIj00YD0XTPZGG6MSVP2VTLpkeSmIwC8mDZEkEJd3SPr5mjHbdLKk5OjwfU7UoaNZW6VjdH5IkaQ5ah08lgBWof4ObkxIe0wYu9NZWK_IEt5t&sig=AHIEtbR8zKhzr48oPl3PWPO0PvJ5CCOEFA

Page 34 has what I think you are looking for, which talks about the Exclusion tab and how to add exclusions.

All of this said, I've found that both Symantec (Norton) & Mcafee AVs are usually resource hogs and will slow your Mac down to the point where you want to pull your hair out. I would recommend using Sophos or Intego. Sophos is free and you will find that it is not obtrusive and is great as a stand alone AV. However, if you need more management power over your AV I would choose Intego, which will allow you to get down to the very heart of things. Unfortunately, you will have to shell out a small annual fee to get the license, but it is worth it.  Below are the links:
