I do receive quiet a lot of spam in my network.

I would like to get rid of them and this immediatly at the entry of my network

Could someone guide me by recommend me a reasonable approach (open source of course) in order to start the implementation of a mail strategy in order to filter the entire email trafic and scan them for spam/virus etc and this before delivering them to the regular mail server.

I just don't know where to start and how to implement such technology.

Thanks.

Have a look at Mailscanner:

http://www.mailscanner.info/

It combines a number of open source software packages like SpamAssassin and ClamAV.
A nice web front end is Baruwa for management.

You do need to be familiair with Linux to set it up.
