Is the Search service running ?
If issue for all users then seems Catalog might be corrupted and needs a reset

Hi Rancy,
I have reset the catalog but still can not do the search. When I run test-exchangesearch cmdlet, I found out that catalog was in "crawling" state.

Please help.

I would suggest you to move to SP2 as that has some fixes

Hi Rancy,
Is there any other suggestion to fix this issue without updating to SP2. It is not cluster, it is the standalone server holding mailbox server role.

Exchange 2010 SP1: The Troubleshooters
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2011/01/18/3411844.aspx

Check for "The Content Index Troubleshooter"

You have to wait for sometime till the task completes .... Catalog folder is almost 5-8% of DB size
