Hi There,

Here is a simple powershell V2 script that you can use from the server to get your product Key for an installed version of SQL 2005/2008/2008R2/2012. If there server is 2003, you will need to install powershell v2.

Windows Management Framework (Windows PowerShell 2.0, WinRM 2.0, and BITS 4.0)

1. Open notepad
2. Save script to GetSQLkey.ps1
3. Open Powershell V2
4. Set-executionPolicy remotesigned (If not already set) or you'll get an error.
5. import-module -Name <drive>:\GetSQLkey.ps1
6. Get-SQLServerKey

*you may need to modify the registry locationkey value for 2005 as it may be incorrect. My 2005 version DigitalProductID Key was DigitalProductID77654 and not DigitalProductId77591.

I just used this on 3 of my instances (2005, 2008, 2008 R2) without issue and confirmed the keys are correct since i have them.
