Hello,
  I install mySQL 5.5 on Suse linux 11. I would like to move the log file [ib_logfile0, ib_logfile1] to a new partition. The database [ibdata1] should stay in the current partition.

How can this be done..

Thanks in advance for your help

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/innodb-parameters.html#sysvar_innodb_log_group_home_dir

Basically edit your my.cnf and add/edit this line:

innodb_log_group_home_dir = /path/to/where/you/want/the/log/files

Restart MySQL

Thanks but what happens to the current logs [logfile0, logfile1]

Do I have to move it? or will it be recreated.

Thanks

they will be recreated.  you can also try moving them or just delete them once the new ones have been created.
