How do you add RSS feeds to Google Chrome?

I don't know anything about RSS feeds but I use Google Chrome and I was curious if you can add feeds to chrome.

Just place the feed url into the address bar

So the RSS feed is simply nothing more than a webpage that I can look at? Is there anything more to an RSS reader (if that is what is called) or should I just look at the webpage every day. If I'm curious?
