changing CONNECTION STRING for 2000 DTS cube inside a  2008 SSIS Package

in sql 2005 ssis that holds a dts 2000 cube component - i can change the cube's connection string (the server referenced there).. this i believe was because the analysis server 2000 had those servers open in its explorer window..

now ssis 2008 is on windows 7.. i can't install analysis server 2000 because of compatability on this new server.. so i am not able to change the connection string server for the dts 2000 sube inside the sql 2008 ssis, like how i can in sql 2005 ssis package.

is there any tweaks or planb to make this happen?

right now, unforunately, the only options seems to be that i have to start redoing the package in 2005 ssis, and then make a backup and then migrate to 2008 ssis.. i hope i can avoid doing the whole pacakge afresh, if we can find an alternative route.

You can install the additional component that can help you open dts in 2008.

But since you have planned to go to SSIS (and its strictly recommeded) as sql server is no longer giving any support for DTS, its better you convert your package. There are tools that can directly convert it with some minor errors. You need to rectify them and you can get plenty of them(you can google for that). Again, I would like to make another point here. Its always good to give all the configuration settings configurable. So, in case of your DTS, if the servername was to be taken from an .ini file run time, if would be easier for you now as you could have just replaced the servername in the file. Take this point as a note while creating your SSIS package.
